I'm trying to take a meter reading but the screen is blank - what do I do?

There are a few reasons your screen could be blank. Here's what you need to try:

  • Your meter could be asleep: Your meter is still working, but it's gone to sleep. Try pressing the red, blue or black button on the meter. If it's just asleep the screen will turn back on.
  • Your meter screen is broken: If this doesn't work, get in touch with us ASAP so we can arrange a meter exchange for you. If the meter is still working but the screen is broken, we'll set up a non-emergency appointment. If the meter is broken and not getting proper energy readings, it's classed as an emergency and an engineer will come out the same day.
