You can sign up to One Utility Bill if you haven't already paid a bill at your current address.
If you've already paid an energy bill at your address, we can't take over managing the bills for you or create a bills package
Why does the fact I've paid a bill stop you managing my bills?
- A package needs to start from the date you became responsible for bills at your address.
- This gives a clear 'date of liability' so there are no outstanding payments, or periods when it's unclear who's responsible for bills at a particular address.
FYI: A date of liability is the date someone becomes legally responsible for bills at a particular property. They become the liable party.
Why does this matter?
Energy suppliers often recalculate bills while you're at your property.
If One Utility Bill takes over your bills after you've paid your supplier, they'll have two liable parties on record.
This can lead to incorrect payments if it turns out you owe or are owed money.
