Are the items actually sustainable?
Yes! We've been really mindful about this.
All our paper is printed carbon-neutral, and our tote bags are either recycled from last year or are made using fully recycled materials. (70% recycled post-manufacture cotton and 30% recycled post-consumer waste).
Why totes over plastic bags?
Tote bags are durable, washable, and (arguably) way more stylish than plastic bags.
A UK government report found that:
- To be more eco-friendly than a plastic bag, a cotton tote needs to be used about 173 times. So, the more you use it, the greener it gets!
- On average, plastic bags are used for around 12 minutes, yet they take up to 1,000 years to decompose.
- Globally, 5 trillion plastic bags are used a year, that’s 160,000 every second. (Less than 1% are recycled). So, using your tote regularly is a small swap that makes a real difference.
But why are you sending this stuff?
We’re not just sending you random things for fun (though we do love a good tote bag), lots of people in the UK are already thinking about how they can reduce their impact on the environment. So, we wanted to do our bit!
The Office for National Statistics found that in 2024:
- 57% of UK adults said climate change and the environment are really important to them.
- And 76% have already made changes to their lifestyle to help the planet.
What if I don’t believe in climate change?
That’s totally fine, you do you! If the items aren’t for you, just pass them along to someone who might enjoy them.
