What is the "walled garden" on my Virgin Media broadband?

This is an additional child lock feature that's usually turned on automatically for Virgin Media broadband users, but not if you get Virgin Media in your One Utility Bill package.

A walled garden is an additional safety feature, on top of Web Safe, and is a type of child lock.

It's automatically turned on by Virgin Media, and blocks certain site categories automatically, such as:

  • Pornography

  • Violence

  • Crime

  • Hate

  • Drugs

  • Hacking

  • Suicide and Self Harm

  • Address Hiding

You'll be opted out of these blocks when you get Virgin Media via One Utility Bill. If you'd like to opt back in, get in touch with our Customer Support team. They can switch it back on. It usually takes about 48 hours from the date of their reply.
