It sounds alarming, but if your supplier stops trading you have nothing to worry about, and you don’t need to do anything. Ofgem, the independent energy regulator, will put a new supplier in place so your service isn’t interrupted.
If you have a One Utility Bill package, the team will always handle utility suppliers for you, and let you know if there are any big changes you need to know about.
When an energy supplier has to stop trading for any reason, Ofgem, the energy regulator, makes sure there’s no disruption to the energy supply for customers.
To do this they appoint a new supplier, called the Supplier of Last Resort (SoLR).
The new energy supplier will be assessed and put in place as quickly as possible to keep the energy supply stable.
The SoLR assessment is made up of many factors, but it basically makes sure the new supplier can properly provide energy to the new customers and their existing customers.
