What happens if I cancel my fixed One Utility Bill package early?

There are a few things to consider, including some charges, so it's best to contact our Customer Support team to make sure things go smoothly.

If you cancel your fixed One Utility Bill package before the end of your contract, there are a couple of charges you become liable for, they are:

  • £100 cancellation fee
  • £48 fee per fuel type
  • There could also be some charges if you have broadband in your package. Check out our list of charges to see if any apply to you.

Important details:

  • If you have a broadband or TV package, some providers may charge a cancellation fee, depending on their terms and conditions.
  • There could be some charges for energy too, depending on when you cancel.
  • You need to submit final meter readings so we can close your energy accounts properly.

If you're moving, you can take your One Utility Bill package with you.

The time of year when you cancel could have a big impact on what you need to pay.
Here’s why it matters when you cancel:

  • The actual cost of the energy you use is different every month.
  • This is true even if you have an Unlimited Energy contract.

You’ll use way more energy in winter months to stay warm than you will in August, for example, when you need less heating and fewer lights!

  • To make your finances simple, the cost of your package is divided into equal payments for each month of your contract, e.g. 12.
  • This means all of your expenses are covered, but only if you make all of the payments as agreed.
  • If you cancel early, you haven’t covered your energy costs and you’ll need to top these up with an extra payment.
  • If you’re on a fixed contract, your costs are calculated based on a 12-month contract. You could end up with a final balance if the months you’ve paid for don’t cover your estimated usage for the months your package was active.  This happens most often if you have a package active over the colder winter months.

Broadband cancellations

  • If you have broadband in your package, you might also have to pay a cancellation fee to your provider.
  • Remember we just handle the provider for you, we don’t actually provide your broadband.
